20 Highest Grossing Movies of 2014 - Ranked From Worst To Best

20. Transformers: Age Of Extinction

Much like every other Transformers movie, fourth installment Age Of Extinction suffered from lazy writing, an unnecessarily convoluted plot and some awful dialogue, most notably when the story is stopped dead in its tracks so that a 20 year-old character can explain in great detail why he's banging a minor. The cheesy one-liners and corny humour remains intact along with the increasingly blatant product placement, not to mention a cynical third-act shift to Hong Kong in an attempt to capitalise on China's rapid growth as a market for blockbuster movies. The living embodiment of a critic-proof brand, Age Of Extinction earned over a billion dollars at the box office and currently ranks as the tenth highest-grossing movie of all time, despite the fact that it kind of sucks. Those involved with the production constantly reminded everyone that this semi-reboot would be a 'fresh start' for the increasingly tired series, but instead audiences were treated to a mind and butt-numbing 165 minutes of the same old sh*t. Michael Bay hasn't signed on to direct Transformers 5 yet, and let's hope that he doesn't because the franchise is in dire need of a creative overhaul.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
