Chart Position: 7th Worldwide Gross: $856,130,132 WhatCulture's Best Film of the Year, Inside Out has too topped many other end of year best-of lists, and the general consensus is that its a modern classic, maybe even a masterpiece. Im not as impressed with it as the majority seem to be, and indeed I have problems with the picture (though thats copy for another article entirely). With that said, theres certainly much to admire in Inside Out, and while I in no way think its a masterpiece, theres enough in there to secure it a place just outside the top five on this list. Directed by Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen, Inside Out is for many the culmination of Pixars continued achievement in animation, an argument that holds weight in terms of the visuals alone. Presented in a stunning array of stark, sharp colours, Inside Out builds worlds within worlds, and its damn impressive to look at. Finishing 2015 in seventh position, Inside Out is one of only a handful of films in the top ten to be critically adored across the board, marking that rare occasion where critical acclaim and box office success converge. Points, too, for its Chinatown reference near the end of the film.
