12. X-Men: Apocalypse

Suicide Squad
20th Century Fox

Box Office: $543.9 million (#12)

An incredibly average film that inspires very little passion either way, Apocalypse does the bare minimum to skate by but fails to capitalise on the success of Days of Future Past in a meaningful way, while basically bungling its title villain, as played anonymously by Oscar Isaac.

Yes, the action is basically fine and there are a number of excellent individual scenes, but it's too long, too dull, and just too familiar on the whole. Plus, Jennifer Lawrence clearly doesn't care about being legit Mystique anymore, yet still takes up far too much screen time.

A disappointment for sure, though this was also pretty obvious from the first trailer.
