For the life of me I can't think what the "over the top scary bits" could be. Is this person terrified of her own emotions? She should probably see someone about that. The Bing Bong bit was devastating, but it wasn't about fear, it was about the crushing realisation that no matter what you do, you're going to get old and forget all about fun and creativity and living life to the full, and you'll die ancient, broken and alone. What's terrifying about that?
