There€™s some misguided notion floating around out there that rape/revenge flicks are in some way feminist. That€™s not to say that one can€™t be feminist, but it must tread the most delicate of lines and be incredibly smart to pull that off. Needless to say, not many of these films are up for the challenge. Just like the aforementioned Felt, José Manuel Cravioto's Reversal aims to put a new spin on the genre. It apparently has solved the whole conundrum of rape/revenge movies by skipping the rape entirely - did no one think of this before? The film follows a young woman (Tina Ivlev) who escapes her captor (Richard Tyson) only to force him to lead her to where other girls are being held captive to free them. Let's hope the film indeed succeeds at bringing a new perspective to a tried and true genre.
