It's seemingly impossible to look at any year€™s slate of horror movies and avoid a sequel (or prequel, in this case), but Insidious: Chapter 3 is nonetheless an intriguing one. The official synopsis reads as follows: "A prequel set before the haunting of the Lambert family that reveals how gifted psychic Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity." Series writer Leigh Whannell, who is taking over directing duties from Insidious 1 and 2 helmsman James Wan, will be working alongside a cast that includes a handful of newcomers to the franchise as well as some familiar faces. Lin Shaye will reprise her role as talented psychic Elise, alongside her merry band of nerdy ghostbusters - Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson) - and you can expect that things are going to get a little disturbing (to say the least).
