Release Date: August 15th Though this high-concept sci-fi film from Salt director Philip Noyce sounds like nothing new in terms of its utopian/dystopian setting and conceit of a childish hero uncovering the truth, its cast - including Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep - suggests faith in the product, and the story is an engaging one. Selected to be a Receiver Of Knowledge, young Jonah (Brenton Thwaites) learns that his fore-fathers gave up on humanity's freewill in order to be happy, which cost them their emotional depth and left them living in a supposed utopia where their fates are pre-destined. Inevitably, he faces the dilemma of whether he should run away, or simply settle with the false happiness of his society. The Selling Point: The cast is phenomenal, and the book it's based on was a best-seller (if that is even any indication of screen quality any more).
