Release Date: June 20th Based on the award-winning stage musical, Jersey Boys is an odd prospect, especially given how it fits into the canon of director Clint Eastwood. Had Jon Favreau made it, as initially intended, that might not have been as jarring, but it shouldn't be counted as a problem that such an accomplished director (and filming team) has chosen such a project. Eastwood's take on the story of the Four Seasons will take its lead from the stage show - which should be a plus - and there is certainly enough precedent in the likes of Dream Girls and Ray to suggest that certain audiences will lap it up. The Selling Point: Clint Eastwood largely doesn't make bad films, and the stage show has been phenomenally successful in a market where new shows traditionally struggle if they're not immediately beloved. The Concerns: Musicals don't always make the splash that Les Miserables did: Hairspray, Rent, Rock Of Ages and even Mama Mia weren't exactly great, and it's still a little odd to see Eastwood in charge of something this musical. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tL2iILHUsG0
