7. The Dark Tower

It's pretty fair to say that the movie adaptation of The Dark Tower that was originally supposed to kick off a multi-platform franchise wasn't exactly great. It flopped badly and it looked like the plans to expand out into a TV series following Idris Elba's Gunslinger in his younger days would be dropped too.

But Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke spoke to Deadline not so long ago to confirm that it hasn't been shelved at all and that The Walking Dead writer Glen Mazzara is still working on it:

"Those are scripts that I haven't gotten yet. I'll be seeing those, that material, in the coming weeks. None of those things are dead. They're very much alive."

The movie's director Nikolaj Arcel had previously said it will also be canon to his movie, but Stephen King has since said it'll be a total reboot. But there's more than enough in the stories to justify excitement.
