Back in 2016, Variety reported that director Johannes Roberts was set to adapt King's short story, Hearts In Atlantis, for the big screen, which is confusing since a movie of the same name has already been released and already adapted the same source. Or at least, it adapted two of the three short stories in the collection: this would be the third.

In the grand King tradition, the story is as a coming-of-age tale set at the University of Maine during the Vietnam War and follows lead Peter who lives in an all-male dormitory where the card-game called Hearts has swept everyone into an obsession. Think Dead Poet's Society against a Vietnam War backdrop and cards in place of secret poetry.

Little else has been announced on the film since its initial report, but it's still considered in development. Presumably, the title would change before release to avoid further confusion.
