20 Hugely Unexpected Roles In Upcoming Movies

20. Martin Freeman (Captain America: Civil War)

The Role: Nothing has been confirmed yet about who Freeman will be playing, though persistent rumours point to him taking the part of an interrogator, and possibly even comic book character Everett Ross, a U.S. government agent assigned to Black Panther's home country of Wakanda. Why It's Unexpected: Because though Freeman cut his teeth on huge-budget filmmaking with The Hobbit trilogy, Marvel just doesn't seem like something that suits him all that much. Plus, it's hard to imagine an existing character who he could really play. Will It Work?: Probably. Freeman proved on FX's hit show Fargo that he could pull into a completely different gear and surprise everyone, and if he's playing a stuffed shirt, that could suit him just fine. Either way, he's proved his acting chops beyond reproach.
