20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In The Harry Potter Films

The Boy Who Screwed Up?

As they say, hindsight is 20-20. And in the big, sprawling universe that is the Harry Potter films, there€™s a lot of things that can be subjected to hindsight. So it€™s time to turn a critical eye on the film characters and second-guess what they did and could have done. While Harry commits some serious mistakes (which to be honest, is what makes for good storytelling), there€™s also plenty of blame to go around on the adults surrounding him and his friends. Harry€™s unwelcoming relatives, the Dursleys, are obviously on the list; but the Ministry of Magic is a lot worse than anyone else when it comes to egregious errors. We know that some of the following points can be refuted in the books; but our focus here is on the film series. Why? Because, while the Potter series is the most read book series of the past 17 years, not everyone wants to read the books. They depend on the films for their knowledge of the Potterverse. Some deleted scenes may answer the points we bring up. However, since they are deleted, they are not canon, and are therefore ineligible for consideration. We€™re also going to skip admitted mistakes, such as Dumbledore admitting he had erred in not telling Harry the full story about his life in The Order of the Phoenix. Let the sniping begin by casting the snarking spell: €œCriticius reviewus!€
