20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In Quentin Tarantino Movies

12. Louis Sees Max In The Store & Doesn't Investigate (Jackie Brown)

We've already declared that Louis cemented his own stupidity (as well as his own fate) by killing Melanie in broad daylight, but there's a moment just before that which appears to have been the moment that pushed Ordell over the edge into killing him. When Louis and Melanie are in the department store to make the trade with Jackie, Louis catches a glimpse of bail bondsman Max Cherry (Robert Forster, who was Oscar-nominated for his role), who even stares directly at him and gives a hand gesture. Louis doesn't find this strange until Ordell informs him that he suspects Jackie stole the money and gave it to someone else, at which point he confesses seeing Max there, infuriating Ordell, who cannot fathom how Louis didn't find it suspicious. Ordell then pumps him with two bullets, and as if Louis hadn't already earned his fate with his countless screw-ups, this one truly guaranteed his untimely death.
