20 Idiotic Decisions Made By Characters In Quentin Tarantino Movies

15. The Slave Escorts Free Django (Django Unchained)

When Django (Jamie Foxx) is taken captive near the end of the movie, Stephen (Samuel L. Jackson) informs him that he will be sold to a mine to live out his days. Django is being transported there by a trio of Australian escorts (one of whom is played by a wildly out-of-place Tarantino himself), but using some sweet talking (as well as the word of his fellow prisoners), he manages to convince his captors that he is in fact a bounty hunter, and that a far greater bounty awaits them back at Candyland if they simply cut him loose. Django ends up being so convincing that one of the escorts even gives Django his gun, and in a mere moment, Django fires the pistol at the two closest men in his vicinity, killing them instantly, before firing at the third, dynamite-carrying one (played by Tarantino), who explodes in a satisfying fireball. While the allure of a sweet deal would make anyone second-guess a mere slave transport, and showing his lucky handbill to the men certainly made him seem credible, it was still mighty stupid to hand over a pistol to a guy they've only just made acquaintance with.
