20 Incredible Facts You Didn't Know About 2020's Biggest Movies
12. Sacha Baron Cohen Broke Character For ONE Scene - Borat Subsequent Moviefilm
Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was one of the most surprising and hilarious films of 2020, a deliriously entertaining and impossibly relevant satire of modern America in which Sacha Baron Cohen continued to prove himself a master chameleon.
And though the film is made by Cohen's ability to remain in character in even the most extreme of circumstances, there is a single scene in the movie where he admitted to breaking character after the shoot was complete.
The infamous sequence where Borat enters a synagogue and interviews Holocaust survivor Judith Dim Evans - who passed away before the movie was released - led to Cohen being sued by one of Evans' heirs, who claimed that she didn't consent to appearing in the film.
Cohen later revealed that he actually broke character following the scene and explained that Borat's anti-Semitic remarks were part of a satirical performance, leading to the lawsuit being dismissed mere days after the film was released.
Further still, Cohen ended up dedicating the film to Evans' memory.
