Ridley Scott's The Last Duel is a challenging but deftly crafted historical epic centered around Marguerite de Carrouges (Jodie Comer) accusing squire Jacques Le Gris (Adam Driver) of rape.

The film's Rashomon-like multi-perspective structure means that we're forced to watch the pivotal scene in question twice, once from Jacques' perspective and then again from Marguerite's, the latter implied to be the truthful, if not objective, depiction of events.

But rather than make Adam Driver and Jodie Comer perform such a gruelling scene two different ways with different camera setups for each required camera angle, Scott made the canny decision to film each version with multiple cameras simultaneously.

This meant Driver and Comer's time performing the scene was drastically reduced, something they were surely grateful for given its difficult nature.

Beyond the obvious considerations for the actors' comfort, Scott reportedly tends to employ multi-camera setups for even basic dialogue scenes in his movies.

This has been credited with allowing the 84-year-old director to complete scenes with extreme efficiency and ensure filming finishes at a sensible time each day. You love to see it.
