Though casual moviegoers might hear the word "reshoots" and immediately associate it with a doomed or troubled project, that's not really the case at all.

Sure, it's concerning when a film undergoes months of reshoots, ala Rogue One, but more often than not it's simply part of the creative process, to the extent that the MCU even bakes a few weeks of reshoots into each movie's production schedule.

But impressively, James Gunn confirmed that he completed The Suicide Squad without requiring a single reshoot. By April 2021, more than three months before release, the film had completed post-production and was basically just waiting to hit cinemas.

Gunn said on Twitter of the unique situation:

"What's... unusual is that we didn't do a single shot of pickups or any post production shooting. Outside of Chris Nolan, that almost never happens, if at all, on tentpole superhero films."

Considering how well the movie turned out, it's all the more impressive, and nothing if not a clear indication of Gunn's ability to smoothly deliver a quality end product, no matter how it performed at the box office.
