20 Incredible Movies You Must Watch As A Double Bill

8. There Will Be Blood/The Master

43. There Will Be Blood, End Scene

I'll admit, as much as I love the films of Paul Thomas Anderson, it's not an easy job to watch these two together but I feel that the pros outweigh the cons. For starters, both of the films are very long so you'll need a great deal of time set aside to watch them but also a very intuitive mindset. It can be overwhelming trying to focus on the deep and fully developed ideas that There Will Be Blood and The Master each present but also very rewarding. They both focus primarily on portraying America at two very pivotal times in its history, the dawn of the 1900s in the former and the years after the end of World War 2 in the latter. Anderson uses his characters to represent the national consciousness of the times he is presenting which causes both of the films to coincide thematically in some ways, which makes them a little easier to watch together, but also presents two starkly different takes on the ethics and morals behind America as a nation.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
