20 Insane MCU Moments Marvel Didn't Show

14. Stan Lee Flips Off Star-Lord (Guardians Of The Galaxy)

Doctor Strange Iron Man Avengers: Infinity War
Marvel Comics

Guardians of the Galaxy went through a lot of changes. At one point, Gamora was going to be a bald purple alien. Iron Man 3 was going to conclude with the Tony Stark heading into space, which would have set him up appearing as a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy. The scene with Thanos was nearly cut because it made Ronan the Accuser look less intimidating.

But the must famous thing removed from the movie was the Stan Lee cameo. Stan the Man was intended to appear as one of The Collector’s trophies. When Star-Lord made eye-contact with him, Lee would give him the middle figure. This scene was shot with a stand-in and Stan Lee's face would have been superimposed with CGI. The director changed his mind, worried it may be disrespectful to depict Marvel's creator flipping someone off.

As a result, Lee was recast as a Xandarian Ladies Man. This may seem like a pretty thankless cameo but it's for the best as watching Lee pointlessly flipping someone off could come across as a tasteless joke that could taint his legacy.
