20 Insanely Awesome 2016 Movie 1 Liners

9. "Would That It Were So Simple" - Hail, Caesar!

Star Wars Rogue One Donnie Yen
Universal Pictures

Cowboy actor Hobie Doyle (Alden Ehrenreich) ends up cast by the studio in a period drama directed by acclaimed filmmaker Laurence Laurentz (Ralph Fiennes).

However, Doyle's reading of the line, "Would that it were so simple" is staggeringly awful, and so Laurentz takes him to one side in an attempt to help nail the line.

Cue an hilarious two-minute scene as Laurentz grows increasingly frustrated with Doyle's inability to read the line properly, but naturally cannot fire him due to the studio's insistence that he appear in the movie.

It's a brilliant scene that pretty much made Ehrenreich's career overnight, as he's since been cast as young Han Solo in the character's upcoming solo film.
