20 James Bond Easter Eggs You Never Noticed

18. Ian Fleming Makes A Cameo? - From Russia With Love

This one's never been officially confirmed, but rumours persist that Ian Fleming makes a cameo appearance in From Russia With Love. According to Bond movie lore, Fleming appears at around 1:16 in the film; after the Orient Express passes one of Karim Bey's sons, it passes a second man, wearing a white jumper, navy blue trousers and cap and leaning on a cane. This, apparently, is Fleming, and behind-the-scenes pictures of the author on the set of the film, wearing identical clothes in front of the Orient Express train, would appear to confirm it. That the figure is so strangely placed (standing by train tracks in the middle of nowhere, facing away from the tracks) and so superfluous to the plot would suggest that there's more to it than just the random placing of an extra.
