20 Ludicrous Ways To Die In A Horror Film

8. Galaxy Of Terror (Bruce D. Clark, 1981)

Galaxy Of Terror Screenshot2 Galaxy Of Terror is a schlock, Roger Corman produced, horror sci-fi film about a rescue crew who have been sent to a barren planet on a mission to investigate for signs of life around a giant intelligently designed pyramid structure. Upon approach, the crew looses control of the ship and is forced to crash land, leaving them stranded and isolated on the strange, seemingly lifeless, planet. In a sense, it's kind of like a cheap Alien ripoff...but with more of a psychological angle. After crash landing, the crew leaves the ship and approaches the remnants of the pyramid with hopes of finding an entry point. They manage to find a door and figure out how to open it. Fearing the unknown forces that may be lurking inside, they decide to split up while leaving one man behind to watch the door. In retrospect, this was a terrible idea...because everyone who ends up alone, also ends up dead. But at least the kills are absolutely hilarious. All certainly have the potential to individually make this list. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lPxn6Qg_ls While crawling through a tunnel, the first chick dies when she is grabbed and dismembered by a number of tentacle-like things. The next chick goes down after being slimed and molested to death by a giant, horny, caterpillar. But my personal favourite kill occurs when the crystal-wielding black dude- who they had left to watch the door- uses his crystals to prevent the door from shutting, fearing his friends will be trapped inside. While one of his crystals is preventing the door from closing, the other one flies through the air by some sort of phantom force, stabbing him in the arm. The tip then breaks off and starts to move up through his arm, under the skin. Fearing it will reach his brain or something, he grabs his other crystal and lops off his own arm at the shoulder. His severed arm remains animated though, and kills him by throwing the remaining crystal star right into his chest! Every kill in this film is absolutely ridiculous, but in a cheesily awesome way. You are left wondering what the hell is actually going on until film is nearly over. It turns out that the pyramidal labyrinth was designed to torment all who enter with their own fears, which become deadly manifest while inside. It also seems like the crew members had been purposefully sent into the hellish experience, by their malevolent leader (pictured above). Galaxy Of Terror certainly isn't a masterpiece of psychological manipulation, but it's a cheesy, super-fun and downright hilarious film that should be seen and enjoyed, if only for it's absurd death sequences.
