20 Ludicrous Ways To Die In A Horror Film

17. Killdozer (Jerry London, 1974)

Killdozer is a bizarre low-budget made-for-tv horror film from the murderous-ghost-in-the-machine subgenre- responsible for classics like Christie (the car that kills). In this case, a construction crew working on a remote and isolated island unearths a rock feature- probably a meteorite- during an excavation. When they attempt to remove it with their trusty bulldozer- aptly nicknamed Killdozer- there's a huge burst of light which immediately kills the operator. This event seems to have animated the bulldozer with the intent to kill anyone who tries to operate it. Hilariously, after two men from the crew are killed by Killdozer, the rest of the team just bury them and plan to go on working while killdozer is just cruising around the island- hoping it doesn't come back to finish them off. I'm not sure how they managed to get the bulldozer to run by itself. I really hope they rigged it up to be remote controlled, cause that would actually be pretty sweet. Either way, though, I'm pretty sure they spent the majority of their budget on the dozer and things it blows up. Because the rest of the storyline and special effects are pretty lame. But this is one of those films that's all about the concept, rather than the execution. It's complete absurdity will ensure it's place in the hearts of cinemasochists and low budget cult fans for many more years.

I'm Josh. I was born and raised in the Niagara region. I'm an avid cinephile, dedicated archivist and pirate. I'm also an anarcho-punk fan that rides a bike, enjoys going on hikes, and really likes fruit....a sort of hippy-punk hybrid, if you will. I graduated from Brock University with an Honours degree in Political Science and an unofficial minor in Film. I enjoy writing learning, reading and writing about politics, film, and punk related issues. I hit shows in TO pretty often and look forward to checking out new films at TIFF every September.
