12. Atmosphere Processing Plant Or Axis Chemicals?

The interior of the Atmosphere Processing Plant in Aliens where the military crew of the USS Sulaco discover the cocooned remains of the Hadley’s Hope colonists in alien nests was actually filmed inside London’s Acton Lane Power Station, chosen for its industrial look and creepy ambience.

The disused power station would have another brush with fame a few years later with the filming of Tim Burton’s Batman when it stood in as the interior of Axis Chemicals – the plant where Jack Nicholson’s Jack Napier falls into a vat of acid and is transformed into his villainous alter ego The Joker.

Legend has it that when the Batman crew first arrived at the power station, most of the alien nest set was still intact which must have been a little bit scary to say the least.
