20 Mind-Blowing Facts About Alien Movies
13. James Cameron Was A Stickler For Real Time
Not only a stickler for consistency, James Cameron was a
perfectionist when it came to making sure certain scenes in Aliens unfolded in
realistic and accurate time too.
When Ripley and the Sulaco crew have landed on LV-326 and are making their way to the deserted Hadley’s Hope colony, Sergeant Apone tells his marines they have ten seconds until they get there and – check your watches – exactly ten seconds unfold until they reach their destination.
And at the end of the movie during the fifteen-minute countdown in which Ripley has to save Newt before the alien hive is nuked to the high heavens, the real time that elapses is – you guessed it – exactly fifteen minutes long.
