20 Mind-Blowing Facts About George A. Romero’s Living Dead Movies
12. Night Of The Living Dead’s Working Titles Didn’t Work So Well
While the movie was still in production and pre-christened it had several working titles, one of which was Night of Anubis – quite a relevant title given that Anubis is the Egyptian god of mummification but as the average moviegoer in the late 1960s knew bugger all about the ancient Egyptians the title was dropped.
Another working title was Night of the Flesh Eaters but that was also abandoned to avoid confusion with the 1964 sci-fi horror The Flesh Eaters. Probably for the best really as it doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as the Living Dead. Dawn of the Flesh Eaters, Diary of the Flesh Eaters – it just doesn’t sound right.
