20 Mind-Blowing Facts About George A. Romero’s Living Dead Movies
11. Romero’s Recurring Clown Zombies
Eagle-eyed Romero fans may have picked up on the director’s tendency to feature the most fearsome zombie of all in his Living Dead films – the zombie clown.
Romero’s first zombie clown appeared in Day of the Dead back in 1985 but it wasn’t until 20 years later that we saw another zombified Pennywise in 2005’s Land of the Dead when a member of the Dead Reckoning scavenger crew is devoured by an orange-wigged undead clown.
The final zombie clown appearance in Diary of the Dead is quite possibly the best when we see a clown who’s supposed to be providing the entertainment at a little girl’s birthday party turns out to be infected and takes a chunk out of her dad’s face.
