16. The Writers Considered 27 Emotions
Neuroscientists all seem to feel our feelings boil down to a certain set of emotions, but they don't always agreed on exactly how many we have, or even what they are. Some of the consultants claimed humans feel 27 different emotions, and Pixar planned to work up to that many eventually. Four that could have had large roles were Pride, Trust, Logic and Surprise. Some maps of basic emotions include the five from the movie, plus Surprise. He (or she) was the last to go and made it to the scripting stage, but the filmmakers found his/her reactions too similar to Fear's.
