20 Mind-Blowing Facts About The Dark Knight Trilogy

11. Two-Face's Coin Predicted The Fates Of The Dark Knight's Three Leads

Christopher Nolan is clearly a very intelligent filmmaker, and he included what might just be one of the most ingenious parts of this entire Batman trilogy in The Dark Knight. Easy to miss on a first, second, or even third viewing, Two-Face's coin appears to be a fortune teller. At the end of the movie, Batman, Harvey Dent, and Jim Gordon all have their survival determined by the flip of a coin, and it actually predicts their fates correctly. The "good" side - which means neither Gordon or Dent are shot - ends up coming true for those two as they're ultimately perceived as being "good" by the public. Batman, on the other hand, is shot after the coin lands on its "bad" side, and ends up being vilified in the film's closing minutes, blamed for Dent's death, and forced to go into hiding. It's a subtle enough clue, but one that definitely wasn't an accident on Nolan's part.
