20 Mind-Blowing Facts About The Jurassic Park Franchise
6. Spielberg Didnt Like It Either
The real problem with The Lost World was that the sheer thrill of seeing realistically rendered dinosaurs on screen for the very first time was something that was impossible to replicate. As it happens, thats exactly how Steven Spielberg felt too, the director doubting himself before the shoot was even complete:
I found myself in the middle of the sequel to Jurassic Park, growing more and more impatient with myself with respect to the kinds of films I really like to make. And often feeling that I have stuck myself in Doc Browns DeLorean and gone back in time four-and-a-half years, and that I was just serving the audience a banquet, but I wasnt serving myself anything challenging. I found myself saying, Is that all there is? Its not enough for me.
Fortunately Spielberg meted out some justice on behalf of disgruntled viewers, giving returning screenwriter David Koepp the crucial role of the Unlucky Bastard by the video store who gets chomped when the T. rex relocates to San Diego. Small consolation, but its something at least.
I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
