Another common misconception is that Godzilla breathes fire. Look at any popular representation and youll probably see him breathing what looks like regular ol fire. This couldnt be further from the truth. He has never breathed fire. Yes, while Godzilla does have a breath weapon, it is not fire. What he breathes is concentrated radiation, an ability he gained after absorbing massive amounts from nearby atomic bomb testing (or in the case of the American Godzilla, naturally). It is extremely powerful weapon that destroys anything it touches, just like an atom bomb. So no, Godzilla is not a fire-breathing lizard as so many people might want to say.
