The original King Kong vs. Godzilla was one of the greatest monster clashes of its time, and birthed an equally great myth in the process. Given the East vs. West nature of the fight, as well as the existence of two vastly different versions of the film, for decades it was believed that there existed two endings. Which one you saw depended on where you saw it. The myth goes that the film ended with Godzilla winning in Japan, while Kong won in the U.S. The advent of the internet eventually revealed that the ending was the same in both countries, bringing to an end one of the franchises greatest legends.
