19. Godzilla Once Replaced King Kong
Godzilla isnt a character that you often think can be easily transposed into another monsters movie, let alone one so iconic as King Kong, but it happened once, resulting in the much maligned Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster. The switch was made well into pre-production, a decision that is quite apparent in the final film. Godzilla behaves in a way that is uncharacteristic to his nature; drawing strength from electricity, constantly throwing rocks and boulders, and even displaying a strange attraction to the female lead. In hindsight, even the setting, a strange and mysterious island, was clearly meant for Kong. Because of this switch, Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster is a black sheep of the series.
