13. It Isn't Sean Connery In That Gun Barrel Sequence

One of the most iconic moments of a Bond film (and there are quite a few) comes with the gun barrel sequence that starts it off (fun fact: Quantum of Solace and Skyfall both stick the sequence at the end of the film), featuring the current Bond actor shooting an unseen assailant. The image above is from the Sean Connery films. But - hold on to your hats, now - it isn't Sean Connery. The man who designed the sequence, Maurice Binder, originally planned to only show Bond's silhouette, so when the sequence was filmed stunt man Bob Simmons was used in Connery's place. The original sequence remained until Connery's fourth Bond film Thunderball, when it was redone with the actual actor, sweeping Simmons' sequence under the carpet. So spare a thought for ol' Bob Simmons, the forgotten James Bond. And speaking of Thunderball...
