20 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About The Terminator Franchise

3. Christian Bale Was A Kind Of Unofficial Co-Director On Salvation

Christian Bale's on-set outburst (yelling profanities at cinematographer Shane Hurlbut for walking in his eyeline during a scene) pretty much overshadowed everything else the actor had to do with Terminator Salvation. Which is a shame, because Bale put more into the film than people realise. After Bale bagged the role of John Connor - he was the first to be cast - director McG expanded the role and involved Bale heavily in the process, with the pair holding discussions in pre-production and working on the story "every morning and every night" during the shoot. In post-production, Bale then assisted in editing, spending six to eight hours each day on crafting the film. Despite his heavy involvement, Bale later expressed his disappointment with the film and implied McG was responsible for Salvation's failure, vowing never to work with the director again. Predictably, Bale declined to return as John Connor for Genisys.
