20 Most Annoying Movie Characters Since 2000
8. Derek Zoolander
Portrayed By: Ben Stiller
Appeared In: Zoolander/Zoolander 2
Something about Ben Stiller as a world class model didn't quite work, let alone being drawn out into two hours of "Blue Steel." Where the first film was a reasonable romp held up by parts from Will Ferrell and Jerry Stiller, part two became just another Derek Zoolander outing pulling off his worst parody of the modeling world possible. He was (just about) bearable at first, but when Zoolander 2 repeats the same vain stereotypes, it had grown old and reminded us why we found him annoying in the first place.
The biggest problem with Zoolander as a character is that he has no redeeming qualities: He isn't funny, he is arrogant, and his brains have seemingly been lost in a cloud of hairspray. Zoolander represents the epitome of what a good role model shouldn't be and you just can't get on board with someone that arrogant. The character and the film have aged terribly since 2001, and the figures for the sequel show this as true.
