2026 has already been an absolute banger year for films, with the likes of Project Hail Mary, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Obsession, Hoppers, and The Drama being on everyone's lips - to name just a few.

But we're only just crossing the mid-point of the year, which of course means we've got another six months of movies to savour before finally putting 2026 to bed. And while there are hundreds of films left to release throughout the next six months both theatrically and on streaming, it can be tough to keep track of the ones you should really be paying attention to.

So, with that in mind, the following 20 movies are by far the buzziest and most eagerly awaited for the rest of 2026; the films which, with all the will in the world, will live up to the lofty expectations in front of them.

From long-gestating sequels to movies we simply thought we'd never actually get to see, potential-rich adaptations, and everything else in between, excitement is at a fever pitch for these projects as their release dates draw ever closer.

20. The Adventures of Cliff Booth

In theory, it might've been easy to scoff at the prospect of a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that isn't being directed by Quentin Tarantino.

But Tarantino's script for this follow-up is basically being tackled by the next best option: the brilliant David Fincher.

We don't know a whole lot about The Adventures of Cliff Booth yet, though it's set to take place in 1977 - eight years after the original film - and chronicle Booth's (Brad Pitt) ongoing shenanigans as a Hollywood fixer.

Considering Pitt won a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, there's certainly no shortage of fans eager to see him back in the role, while working opposite a stupid-good ensemble, including Elizabeth Debicki, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Holt McCallany, and a returning Timothy Olyphant.

A David Fincher film written by Tarantino with this cast is basically a dream combination; what's not to love?

The Adventures of Cliff Booth releases theatrically on November 25 before debuting on Netflix on December 23.
