But no film awaiting release this year quite reaches the hype levels of the third MCU Spider-Man movie, No Way Home.

Though specific plot details remain up in the air, it's clear that the film is going to be bringing the live-action Spider-Verse to fruition.

It's been confirmed that Alfred Molina will reprise his role as Doctor Octopus from the Sam Raimi movies and Jamie Foxx will again play The Amazing Spider-Man 2's Electro, while aggressive rumours suggest we will also be seeing both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's iterations of Spider-Man.

This has the potential to be the ultimate exercise in fan service if it's executed well, especially with bonkers rumours hinting that we may even see an appearance from Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin. We can only hope we're so lucky.

If it lives up to its promise, it'll be a stunning way to wrap up the year's cinematic slate.

Spider-Man: No Way Home releases on December 22.
