It's completely fascinating that a new Matrix movie is set to release in just five months, and yet we still don't have a trailer, an official synopsis, or even a confirmed title.

Hopefully this speaks less to the film being a troubled production than Warner Bros.' desire to play their cards close to their chest, ensuring viewers aren't overexposed to the movie for months and months before release.

A test screening report from a reliable leaker suggests the film, which will bring back original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, is both ambitious and bizarre, and likely to be divisive but loved by many who do indeed enjoy it.

Whatever the outcome, it's simply great to see Lana Wachowski back in the world she helped create.

In addition to Reeves and Moss, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lambert Wilson, and Daniel Bernhardt will reprise their roles from the prior films, while Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Neil Patrick Harris, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Priyanka Chopra, and Christina Ricci are also among the cast.

The Matrix 4 will release on December 22.
