10. The Dig

The Devil All the Time Tom Holland
IFC Films

Release Date: TBA

An adaptation of John Preston's 2007 novel of the same name, The Dig documents the 1939 excavation of an Anglo Saxon ship discovered buried at the medieval cemetery Sutton Hoo.

Carey Mulligan will play Edith Pretty, a widow who first become suspicious there are great riches on her property, while Ralph Fiennes and Lily James will co-star as archaeologists assisting Pretty with her find.

Simon Stone (The Daughter) directs, while Moira Buffini (Jane Eyre, Byzantium) pens the script, and though Preston's novel is noted for its artistic license in deviating from true facts, it should nevertheless make for an entertainingly down-to-Earth (pun intended), grown-up drama.
