After Wonder Woman defied all critical and commercial expectations this past summer, it was just a matter of time before the inevitable sequel was confirmed, which will reportedly see Diana thrust into the midst of the Cold War for another period superhero adventure.

Patty Jenkins will return to direct, and though little else is known about the film at present, it's one of the few upcoming DCEU projects that actually seems to have a firm head on its shoulders.

Jenkins co-writing the film with Geoff Johns makes it easy to believe this will be a worthy sequel that again emphasises Wonder Woman's statuesque heroism within an intriguing historical setting.
