One of the most hilariously prophetic film announcements in 2017 saw Leonardo DiCaprio signing on to star in a biopic of Leonardo da Vinci, which will be based on Walter Isaacson's acclaimed recent book simply titled Leonardo Da Vinci.

It's not a cutesy project for Leo simply because he bears the same name as the man he'll be portraying, but also because of the story behind Leo getting his birth name in the first place. His mother decided on Leonardo after looking at one of da Vinci's paintings in Florence's Uffizi Gallery in 1974, during which she felt an unborn Leo kick in the womb. The rest, as they say, is history.

Though there's no director or screenwriter attached yet, DiCaprio will produce under his Appian Way production company, the announcement of which sparked a fierce bidding war in Hollywood given the strong whiff of Oscar success the project undeniably exudes.
