By far the most praised aspect of The Fate of the Furious was the highly entertaining two-hander between Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw.

The pair played off one another perfectly in both the movie's action sequences and the spoken squabbling, to the point that it quickly became clear how successful a buddy movie starring the two could be.

Though there's been some in-house controversy among the Fast and the Furious cast, with Tyrese calling The Rock out for accepting the role and causing Fast and Furious 9 to be delayed by a year, diversifying the franchise with something smaller-scale isn't at all a bad idea.

The fact that Shane Black is being courted to direct only makes it that much more intriguing. Fingers crossed.
