20 Most Horribly Misleading Movie Titles

9. Naked Lunch

What It Sounds Like: Taking into account the film is adapted from a William Burroughs novel, you€™d be forgiven for thinking that at some point lunch is eaten by someone in their birthday suit. The deceptive title even forms the basis of a Simpsons joke. After Bart, Millhouse and Nelson sneak in to an adult movie they depart the theatre, and Nelson, acknowledging the marquee says €œWell, I can see two things wrong with that title.€

What It Actually Is: It€™s got nowt to do with lunch or nakedness. It€™s an examination of the hallucinatory world of William Lee, a paranoid writer who goes on the run into an imaginary world called Interzone after being instructed by a huge bug to shoot his wife. His typewriter then turns into a giant cockroach, and lots of drugs are imbibed in this bleak narrative puzzle.

What It Should Have Been Called: Interzone
