20 Most Hotly Anticipated Movie Scenes Of 2018

Though there have been deaths shown on screen in X-Men movies, most of them were retconned by the end of Days Of Future Past and it's never really been that much of a presence (aside from in the Wolverine movies). That much will apparently change with Simon Kinberg's Dark Phoenix story.

We're already being promised a "big death" as part of the story, which is the kind of marketing boost all superhero movies can only dream of. There's nothing fans love more than a bit of a bloodlust when it comes to their favourite heroes. It really drives home the threat of the villain after all.

So, now the question is just who the victim is going to be. The smartest money is on Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique (particularly as she didn't appear in the Days Of Future Past epilogue). And while the X-Men movies have never been that bothered about fidelity to the timeline, that fact still puts her squarely in the crosshairs. Not to mention the fact that her arc would end perfectly with an altruistic heroic death.
