There may be some reservations to Johnny Depp's continued presence in the Wizarding World movies after stark revelations about his personal relationships, but there's no distracting from the hype of getting to see the greatest dark wizard of all time facing off with his former friend and lover Albus Dumbledore.

Both men are among the most powerful figures ever introduced to JK Rowling's magical work and a clash of genuinely top billed wizards (and not a boy in a love bubble and a supervillain) is all sorts of exciting. Add to that the background tension of the pair formerly being a couple (provided the film follows Rowlings' lead and establishes their romantic past) and it's a recipe for a truly explosive encounter.

Let's just hope Depp delivers a performance that justifies the faith that's been placed in him.
