20 Most Iconic Hero Introductions In Movie History

16. Buzz Lightyear - Toy Story

Kids' movies are often about selling merchandise and toys, and if there's one franchise which has sold more than most it's Pixar's Toy Story series. Particularly popular were the toys for Buzz Lightyear, with infamous shortages of the futuristic astronaut during the Christmas following the launch of the first instalment making the news (and leading to the unfortunate cinematic disaster Jingle All The Way). It's not hard to see why Buzz proved to be such a hit with the kids (and adult merch collectors) - voiced by Tim Allen he's one of the most loveable characters ever to have graced the screen. His introductory scene sums up his appeal perfectly, as he emerges into Andy's bedroom convinced that he's on a mission to defeat the dreaded Zerg, utterly oblivious to his status as a children's toy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bn82dUJopKo
