20 Most Iconic Hero Introductions In Movie History

15. Mad Max Rockatansky - Mad Max

While Mel Gibson might have fallen out of favour with most people in recent years (drunken anti-Semitic rants are liable to do that to a person), back in his heyday he was responsible for two of the most popular action franchises of the era. One was Lethal Weapon, the other was Mad Max. Director George Miller's opening sequence really takes its time introducing Max Rockatansky, refusing to reveal his face until the last minute. Cutting back and forth between a fast-paced car chase and subtle establishing shots of Max, the sequence finally pays off and shows him up close before he gets into the high speed pursuit himself, running down the drug-addled villains in his souped up car. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_FQRsm4yAE
