16. Kong - King Kong

While Peter Jackson did a fantastic job of bringing the events in Middle Earth to life in his Lord Of The Rings trilogy, the same can't be said for his updated version of King Kong. With an unnecessarily long running time and some truly dreadful CGI dinosaur sequences it felt over-bloated and something of a missed opportunity. Revisiting the original and it's clear that it was a much tighter and focused movie - it would be amazing to have a time machine, if only to go back to 1933 and see how audiences reacted the first time the giant gorilla appeared on the screen, emerging from the thick of the jungle.
