18. Russell Franklin - Deep Blue Sea (1999)
Renny Harlin's brainless yet strangely entertaining B-movie about super-intelligent killer sharks has become a cult favorite over the years. While Deep Blue Sea may be camp, cheesy and frequently derivative, it nonetheless boasts one of the most memorable death scenes of all time.
In an attempt to stop the infighting and rally the remaining survivors, Samuel L Jackson gets to deliver one of his patented monologues about how 'nature is lethal, but it doesn't hold a candle to man'. Just as he's about to reveal his plan, from out of nowhere a poorly-rendered CGI shark appears and drags him to his doom, with one of the shark's buddies helping to literally rip him in half under the water.
Killing off the biggest name in the cast halfway through came as a real shock, and it remains by far the most memorable moment in the entire movie.
